The Tribe by Gary Paul Corcoran

The TribeThe Tribe by Gary Paul Corcoran

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“The Tribe” illustrates an unconventional tale of a group of people living together in a community built by Steven Fitzgerald, a wealthy entrepreneur. The author did a great job in incorporating different characters without missing a beat on the story line. You’ll love how Corocoran demonstrates the complexities of each character, how they relate to each other, how they responds to the tribe’s concept and vision, and how they grow and develop throughout the story. Its complexity and being relatable, makes this an unforgettable read. Highly recommended!

Intentions of the Earl (Scandalous Sisters #1) by Rose Gordon

Intentions of the Earl (Scandalous Sisters #1)Intentions of the Earl by Rose Gordon
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I’ve always been a fan of regency romance novels. As long as there’s a “royalty” in the title, I surely can’t pass it up. This is the first book I’ve read from Rose Gordon. I like how she builds the characters, including their flaws and weaknesses. I like her writing style, although there are parts that are unnecessary which makes the story longer. Overall, I think I’d be open to read more of Rose Gordon’s books.

Alex’s Destiny (Defender’s Blood #1) by A.K. Michaels

Alex's Destiny (Defender's Blood, #1)Alex’s Destiny by A.K. Michaels

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)

Rate: 4.5 stars

I wouldn’t be surprised if this will become a bestseller. The author sure knows how to incorporate her characters in an intricate plot that involves almost all creatures of paranormal. This is like a mashup of Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey, which makes it more interesting for adult fans of Paranormal. The sensual and exotic parts are definitely the thing that’s missing with the Twilight series. The book has so many characters and at first I almost got lost in knowing who’s who but as I read on, I begin to accept the fact that everyone has his/her own part to play and they are essential to make the story as good as it is. Personally, it would have been great if Alex has her own powers (not just special blood, which is kinda bland).

The reason I’ve given this 4.5 stars is that there are some annoying parts that I can’t help but notice. One of this is when the portal is closed, the story begins to progress rapidly, and I mean RAPIDLY. I can’t help but feel it was written that way just to finish the book. Another is there are some unnecessary scenes, which I think the book will progress nicely with or without it. (Ex. Scene with the pilot)

Overall, the plot is definitely something and it really makes up for the bad. I would definitely watch out for the rest of this series and I would highly recommend this to adult paranormal fans.

Before He Was Famous by Becky Wicks

Before He Was Famous (HotFlush, #1)Before He Was Famous by Becky Wicks

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

First off, I would like to advise you to have a hanky on hand as this will bring you tears of joy, sadness, and triumph. It also includes unlimited romance and butterflies in your stomach. =D

This is the first time I read a novel from Becky Wicks and I was reluctant at first. I assume that it will go along the usual story line and cheesiness like in most romance novel, but I was so wrong. With the first few chapters alone, I was totally HOOKED! This is one of the few novel’s I’ve read that doesn’t have any dull pages. I know that even some of the famous novels has its own dreary parts where we tend to skim just to reach the exciting ones, but this one is truly different. The author really knows what she’s doing and you can see that she really has the edge in becoming a great (& famous!) author.

The plot is very well-researched, as if you’re actually thrown in the midst of the rich and famous. I didn’t find any loopholes in the story line, which is usually the first thing I’d notice when reading a book. The characters are well created and established, making them all essential in building up the story. One of the lines I would never forget is “You have to fight to stay on the shore, no matter how many times it pushes you away.” I can’t wait to watch this line being told on the big screen. I wouldn’t even be surprised when this happens. This novel never fails to surprise me and the story’s twists and turns are definitely something to look forward to.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to fall in love again. This is definitely one of the stories you’ll never forget.

True Believer by Nicholas Sparks

True Believer (Jeremy Marsh & Lexie Darnell, #1)True Believer by Nicholas Sparks

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Well, this is one of Nicholas Sparks’s books that I didn’t like that much. I really love the way Nicholas Sparks’ narrate his stories, but this one turns out to be too boring for me. I felt that the story is forcibly written, maybe due an incoming deadline or something. The characters aren’t relatable enough to make me believe their actions throughout the story. Maybe I just expected too much on this one.

But despite this moment of weakness, it doesn’t change the fact that Nicholas Sparks will always be one of my favorite writers.

Suddenly Royal by Nichole Chase

Suddenly RoyalSuddenly Royal by Nichole Chase

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Royal love stories never fail to excite me. Most of us did fantasize that we are royal ourselves though most wouldn’t admit they did. Well, this story by Nichole Chase will bring back those memories again. It’s a fast, easy and fun read. This also reminds me of The Princess Diaries but in a racy and exciting way. I like the way the main characters are built at the start though they do turn flat towards the end because of their predictability. Some characters also aren’t explored enough which make them unconvincing and unimportant. There may be a few gaps and inconsistencies in this book but it allays this with the exciting royal set-up and steamy scenes. I recommend this book if you’re into royal plots with a sexual twist.

Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks

Safe HavenSafe Haven by Nicholas Sparks
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a compelling love story with a twist of sadistic suspense. It compels you deep into the story but abruptly wipes all your romantic notions in an instant. Though, it does lack consistency in some parts, it alleviates its shortcoming with a different kind of twists that most Nicholas Sparks’ books never left without. If you want to have a different reading experience then you have to include this book on your list but if you want to be starry eyed and fall in love over and over again well this book is definitely not for you.
