The Tribe by Gary Paul Corcoran

The TribeThe Tribe by Gary Paul Corcoran

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“The Tribe” illustrates an unconventional tale of a group of people living together in a community built by Steven Fitzgerald, a wealthy entrepreneur. The author did a great job in incorporating different characters without missing a beat on the story line. You’ll love how Corocoran demonstrates the complexities of each character, how they relate to each other, how they responds to the tribe’s concept and vision, and how they grow and develop throughout the story. Its complexity and being relatable, makes this an unforgettable read. Highly recommended!

Intentions of the Earl (Scandalous Sisters #1) by Rose Gordon

Intentions of the Earl (Scandalous Sisters #1)Intentions of the Earl by Rose Gordon
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I’ve always been a fan of regency romance novels. As long as there’s a “royalty” in the title, I surely can’t pass it up. This is the first book I’ve read from Rose Gordon. I like how she builds the characters, including their flaws and weaknesses. I like her writing style, although there are parts that are unnecessary which makes the story longer. Overall, I think I’d be open to read more of Rose Gordon’s books.

Paranormal Protection Agency (Book 1-5) by Mina Carter

Paranormal Protection Agency (Paranormal Protection Agency, #1 - #5)Paranormal Protection Agency by Mina Carter

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Short and definitely HOT! The book includes 5 short stories that are interconnected, which makes it more interesting. Despite the limited introductions, the author was able to build the characters enough for you to understand their current situations. Short stories has its downside as well, and for this one, each story has more steamy scenes (60-70%) than the real story itself. It would have been much better if each story has more details like how do the PPA starts, how did the people accept the paranormal, when did they come out of the open, etc. Highly recommended to those who wants something sexy and steamy before bedtime.

The Daughter of Fate by Jessica Albee

**I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)**

The first two to three chapters started out dull for me. This is where you’ll notice that it the book clearly needs editing. I had to skim through these pages just to get to the real story. The “Fates” concept is very interesting and I just wish the author elaborate on this. The story was more on the Mackenzie’s feelings towards Gabriel and vice versa, which only dampens the good story behind being a daughter of Fate. Overall, I rated it 3 stars because of the great concept conceptualized by a new author.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal).

I really wanted to love this book, however, I can’t ignore the fact that it looks rushed and the story line chaotic. The plot would have been great because of the multiple characters and their different abilities, but when you’re at the peak of anticipation on what’s coming, the characters end up dead. I just don’t get the logic of having multiple characters in the first few chapters and then let them die without any explanation. Well, maybe this will be explained in the next book. I just don’t like the idea of having the first book in a series full of cliffhangers, which only leave the readers confused. The author may have assumed that this will leave the readers wanting more. It really does spike your interest on what will happen in the next book and I hope it will turn out better than this one.

Last Light Falling (The Covenant #1) by J.E Plemons

Last Light Falling (The Covenant, #1)Last Light Falling by J.E. Plemons

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Why would someone like yourself come to my aid? I’m just an old, withering man who has nothing to offer” he says.
“And I’m a broken girl who wants nothing to take. Look into my eyes. What do you see?”

I’ve always been a fan of books threading the dystopian & post-apocalyptic genre, and this book never fails to exceed my expectations. First off, the story line is amazingly unique and hauntingly evocative at the same time. It is truly an epitome of a true page-turner. Every detail is intricately described, that you’ll almost feel you’re one of the characters and everything is happening around you. The action sequences are to die for (literally!). The author really did a great job when it comes to research, because he was able to portray dangerous and yet plausible scenes effectively. The protagonists, Arena & Gabriel Power, despite their unbelievable gifts are amazingly exemplified as humans. You can feel their happiness, pain, fear, anger and rage, which are all basic human emotions. The rest of the characters are well-developed and as you go along you’ll realize that everyone plays an important part in keeping the story intact.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wanted more than just a post-apocalyptic story. This would definitely make you awake for hours not only because of the utterly gripping scenes, but because you wouldn’t dare to put it down once you open its pages.

This is definitely a fun and exciting read! It may look like more suitable for younger readers, but it appeals to me just right. I love the characters, especially Ira, Brynn and Sebille. There may be some parts that lacks excitement, that I almost want to skip some pages. Also, it would have been much better if there is more character development between Lex and Rosaline. But overall, the plot and characters make up for those parts that is uneventful. I would highly recommend this to everyone who loves fantasy books. This is definitely worth reading!
